“Ringo” New Holy

Ringo New Holy, 54, of Elizabethtown, died at home peacefully, Thursday, July 5, 2018. Born on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, Pine Ridge, South Dakota, he was the son of the late Ambrose New Holy and Keva Ghost. He was a member of the Oglala Lakota Nation and was a Pipe Carrier and Sundancer. He grew up on the Reservation with his brothers and sisters prior to moving to Pennsylvania. Ringo is a decedent of Sioux Chief Sitting Bull and was a full blooded Sioux. He appeared as a horseman in the 1990 blockbuster movie, "Dancing with Wolves" and the 1991 TV Movie, "Son of the Morning Star". He was a self-employed bonded and professional driver for numerous pharmaceutical companies. He is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Heather Abramo, Elizabethtown, four children, Janice and Emily New Holy, Elizabethtown, Travis and Curtis New Holy, one granddaughter Emmaleigh Cherie Erin New Holy, seven sisters, Nancy Marshall, Sharon Arrowchis, Trudy New Holy, Diane Ironbird, Judy New Holy, Eileen Moves Camp, all of Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, South Dakota, Mary Ann, wife of Derek Robins, of Conestoga, PA, four brothers, Charley, Gary, Ambrose, Jr., all of Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, South Dakota, Richard "Whip" Schappell, Schnecksville, PA. He was preceded in death by a son, Troy New Holy in 2011. A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening, July 10, 2018 at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory 3110 Lititz Pk., Lititz, PA 17543 from 6PM-9PM. His burial will take place on the family burial grounds at Grass Creek on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, Pine Ridge, South Dakota.
