Raymond C. Mutzel, 66, of Lancaster, a city resident, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Hospice & Community Care in Mt. Joy. Raymond was born in Lancaster and was the son of the late Robert L. and Esther M. (Miller) Mutzel.

Raymond graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School in 1965. He attended St. Anne and St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Churches.

He retired as a Dispatcher for the Manheim Township Police Department. He formerly was Head of Security at the Eden Resort and Percussion Director at J.P. McCaskey HS.

Raymond was proud of being an Eagle Scout. He was a member of the American Legion, Lancaster Liederkranz, Ephrata Elks, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Council #915, and the Fraternal Order of Police. He was a drummer and vocalist in the Royaltones Band and other local bands during the 1970's and 1980's. Raymond enjoyed CB radios, playing drums, computers, his dog Joan "Skeez" Theresse, and was an avid Phillies fan.

Raymond is survived by his daughter, Melissa L. Hammer, wife of Randy D., of Hellam, a nephew, Richard "Rick" L. Mutzel, Jr., husband of Kristi L., of Lancaster, a niece, Heather E. Toth, of State College, four great nieces, Noel, Paige, Raena, and Tessa Mutzel. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Richard L. Mutzel, Sr. and Robert A. Mutzel.

A Celebration of Life Christian Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 1PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory 414 E. King St. Lancaster, PA with The Rev. Deogratias Rwegasira officiating. Visitation will be from 12noon-1PM. Prior to the service the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus will conduct their tribute. Interment will be in the St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.
