It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the death of our eldest son, Rand on May Fourth in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

He was preceded in death by his grand-parents, Samuel M. Axelrod, Belle Koff Axelrod, Joseph Basickes, Gertrude Basickes, His mother, Melba Basickes Axelrod, and our son-in-law John F. K. Hurley.

He will be missed by his parents, relatives and friends. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors and particularly his love of water. He loved to be near the shore, on its surface and especially beneath its surface. He loved rafting, scuba and underwater photography. Anyone who was privileged to see his magnificent underwater photos will never forget them.

He loved his second homeland, New Zealand where he spent perhaps his happiest seven years, before returning to New Jersey. Please remember him for his days of service as an Eagle Scout in Troupe 99 in Lancaster, PA to his most recent volunteer service to the community in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

May God grant him the peace he so needed. As he requested there will be no service. At a later date a celebration of his life will be held.
