IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ralph W.
“Rip” Miller, Jr.
August 8, 2024
Ralph "Rip" Welsh Miller, Jr., 88, of Landis Homes, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2024. Born in Harrisburg, PA, he was the son of the late Ralph and Aldah (McMorris) Miller. He was married 66 years to his beloved wife, the late Phyllis (Myers) Miller who preceded him in passing just 45 days prior.
Rip received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education at Millersville State Teacher's College, and a Master's degree in Education from Millersville State College. He began his career as an Industrial Arts teacher at Penn Manor. He then spent 27 years until his retirement at Millersville University, where he was an Associate Professor of Industry and Technology, and taught in the hot metals lab. Rip had an amazing reputation as an educator and touched so many lives during his career. In his earlier years, he was a counselor at Camp Kennebec. Rip enjoyed outdoor sports including swimming, sailing, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed creating beautiful pieces of wooden furniture, singing, spending time with his beloved family, and especially loved food. His family affectionately remembers his great sense of humor and contagious laugh, undeniable work ethic, and ability to make friends with anyone. Rip was a devoted member of LEFC. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Ralph is survived by his 4 children: Dale Miller (Marie), Linda Hunt (John), Scott Miller (Karen), and Karen Kurtz (Rob); 8 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Beverly Cousens.
A service to honor and remember Rip will be held on Saturday, September, 28, 2024, at 10 AM at LEFC (Lancaster Evangelical Free Church), 419 Pierson Rd, Lititz, PA 17543, with a light reception to follow.
