Rafaela Alverio-Roldan, 93, passed peacefully Monday morning at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy. Born in San Lorenzo, PR, she was the daughter of the late Florencio and Benedicta (Roldan) Alverio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roberto Torres.

A woman of incredible strength and faith, Rafaela's unsurpassed skill with a sewing machine allowed her to raise two sons who will carry on her legacy of working tirelessly to provide for loved ones. Also well known for her amazing cooking, Rafaela shared both talents with her community in San Lorenzo, teaching both sewing and culinary skills at the town rec center.

Rafaela is survived by her sons, Luis Torres, husband of Janice, of Lancaster, and Edward Torres, husband of Elizabeth, of Tobyhanna, PA, her brother, Jose Alverio-Roldan, and numerous other family, including seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Florito Alverio-Roldan and a sister, Carmen Amaro.

A viewing will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018 from 6-8pm at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at St. John Neumann Church, 601 E. Delp Road, Lancaster, PA 17601. The family will receive guests from 10 am until the time of Mass at the church.
