Phyllis "Fifi" Schmucker, 89, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on September 9, 2014 at St. Anne's Retirement Community surrounded by her family. Born in Tiffin, OH, she was the daughter of the late Albert William and Erma Katherine (Marks) Franklin. Phyllis was the wife of the late Frank J. Schmucker who died in 1987. Phyllis was a former member of Sacred Heart of Jesus and St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, and was very active at Sacred Heart with craft bazaars. She was a volunteer in the gift shop at St. Anne's Retirement Community. Phyllis had a lifelong love of crocheting. She made blankets for infants and stillborn babies with Share of Lancaster plus 100's of lap robes and afghan. But her passion was creating hats, scarfs and headbands, affectionately known as 'Fif's', each Christmas. She was an avid card player with her favorite being Bridge. Surviving are 7 sons: David W. Schmucker, husband of Elizabeth, of Washington D.C., Paul F. Schmucker, husband of Gerdith, of Doylestown, PA, Robert A. Schmucker, husband of Tina, James F. Schmucker, husband of Marsha, Steven E. Schmucker, husband of Leslie, all of Lancaster, PA, F. Matthew Schmucker, husband of Eli, of Washington D.C. and Daniel B. Schmucker of Silver Spring, MD; a sister, Jan Elsasser of Williamsburg, VA; 19 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and 1 on the way. Phyllis is preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Katherine Schmucker, and a son, Stuart Joseph Schmucker. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, September 12, 2014 at the chapel of St. Anne's Retirement Community, 3952 Columbia Ave., Columbia, PA 17512. A visitation will be held following the service at 12 PM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family at Somerset Memorial Park. Flowers are welcomed or contributions may be made to St. Anne's Retirement Community.
