Phyllis L. Hershey, 88, formerly of East Petersburg, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at St. Anne's Retirement Community. Born in Elkins, WV, she was the daughter of the late Grant and Hazel (Miner) Mattson Roy. Phyllis was the wife of George E. Hershey for 52 years.

She had been the proprietor of EL-GIN luncheonette and lunch wagon in Marietta and then worked as a tool assembler for K-D Manufacturing. Along with George, she operated a ceramics business at Root's Market and various craft shows for over 35 years. She mastered the making of porcelain and ceramic reproductions of Bye-Lo, Jumeau and Armand Marseille dolls. Over the years Phyllis also sold Avon.

Phyllis is survived by her husband George, and her son Randolph "Randy" W. Appley both of East Petersburg.

A viewing will take place 10:30 to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, followed by the funeral at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mark J. Thiboldeaux officiating, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Interment in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens, Columbia. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the S.
