Obituary

Philip A. Sabatine, 94, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, April 2, 2008.

He was the husband of Josephine A. Catalano Sabatine, with whom he would have celebrated 67 years of marriage this coming December 29 th . Born in Lancaster, Philip was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine Corso Sabatine.

Philip had worked for the Burnham Corp. for 25 years, retiring in 1977. Prior to this, he had worked with his father and brothers in the family business, Joseph Sabatine and Sons Tile Setters.

A US Army veteran of World War II, he served with the 103 rd Medical Battalion-28 th Division. He participated in the Normandy invasion, the campaigns of Southern France, Central Europe, the Battle of the Bulge, and in the final invasion into Germany.

He was a 75 year member of St Anne's Catholic Church.

Philip was an avid gardener and a musician, playing the mandolin, and was an artist, painting in oils.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Josephine "Jody" A.  married to James Wolford of Lancaster; 3 grandchildren: Joseph and Len Szymanski and Phyllis Maire; 8 great grandchildren: Morgan, Madison, and MJ Maire, Alexis, Lynsi and Summer Szymanski, and John and Richard Szymanski; and a brother, Lewis married to Dolly Sabatine of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Gus and Albert.

Friends will be received on Monday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 929 N. Duke St., Lancaster, PA 17602 from 10-11AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11AM, the Rev Norman Hohenwarter as Celebrant. Interment in St Mary's Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Philip's memory to St Anne's Catholic Church. Arrangements by the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, Lititz PA  560-5100.
