Obituary

Philip "Butch" J. Butt, 65, of Pequea, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, August 17, 2009 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was born in Lancaster to the late Philip J. Butt, Jr. and Elizabeth (Frey) Butt.

Butch is survived by his loving wife Carroll L. (Mooney) Butt. They celebrated forty five years together.

Butch served his country with the United States Army from 1969-1971.

He was a welder and a mechanic for thirty-five years. He also was self-employed owning Hy-Tec, Inc. for twelve years.

He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church (corner of Orange & Duke St.).

Butch was a 1961 graduate of Penn Manor High School.

He enjoyed crabbing on the Chesapeake, fishing, was a certified scuba diver, and boating with his wife on the Susquehanna River.

Butch was also a Fire Chief for Pequea Fire Station #56.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, David Butt, husband of Susan, of Willow Street, sister Phyllis Rudisill, wife of William, of Willow Street, and many loving nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held from the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 441 N. George St. Millersville, PA 717-872-5041 on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 11am with the Rev. John Symonds officiating. Military Honors will take place at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Butch's memory may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Dr. Box 4125 Lancaster, PA 17604.
