Peter Michael Cirko lll, affectionately known as “Grandpa Pete,” passed away July 11th surrounded by his family and their love after a brief but intense illness at the age of 66.
Born in Kingston, PA, he was the son of the late Peter and Marie Cirko. He graduated from Bel Air High School, Bel Air, MD, class of 1977. He graduated cum laude from King’s College in 1981 with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems and Accounting. He earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Loyola College in 1984. Most recently, he was engaged in full-time employment as an Associate Director of Systems Management at Geisinger Health until his passing.
Faith, family, love, loyalty, hard work, and generosity were most important to Pete. He was the dedicated and loving husband of Maureen Cirko for 43 years. He was a compassionate and loving father and father-in law to his children. He showed intense love for his grandchildren: Bradley, Gavin, Natalie, Aria and Bria. Additionally, Pete had a very close relationship with his brother, Andy; sister-in-law, Cathy; nephew, Sam Cirko; and his niece, Wendy Cirko. Pete also loved his pets including his yellow lab, Gus, and his dachshund, Cocoa, who is currently enjoying love from Grandpa Pete in heaven.
Pete cherished time with his family and greatly enjoyed going out to dinner with his wife or cooking meals for his family. He treasured holidays, especially Christmas, and he made holidays special for his loved ones. He was great at picking out very meaningful and thoughtful gifts. He also loved taking his children and grandchildren on train rides and to amusement parks.
He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed Hershey Bears hockey games, and Phillies and Orioles baseball games. He enjoyed watching these events with his family, whether in person or on TV. He made sure to check the Orioles scores even when he was in the hospital and spoke sports with his children to his very last day. Throughout his life, he also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports from ice hockey to baseball. He was always their number one fan in the stands.
Pete was well-known for his sense of humor, and he never missed an opportunity to crack a joke. He made typical “Pete Cirko” jokes until his very last breaths.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his granddaughter, Bria Evelyn Cirko, who passed recently in the fall of 2025.
Pete is survived by his beloved, loyal wife Maureen Cirko who compassionately cared for him during his illness; his children, Peter Cirko and his wife Rebecca, Karen Rivera and her husband Bryan, and Nick Cirko and his wife Lyndsay; his grandchildren Natalie Cirko, Bradley Rivera, Gavin Rivera, and Aria Cirko; his brother Andy Cirko and his wife Cathy; his aunt Bonnie Lucchino and her husband Ron; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Devoted to his Byzantine Catholic faith his whole life, his family is comforted knowing Pete is in heaven with his parents. He’s watching sports with his granddaughter, Bria, on one knee and his dog, Cocoa, on the other. He promised to take care of Bria and to be a guardian angel to his other surviving grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Family and friends will be received 10-11AM at the funeral home on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Peter’s name to the York Wellspan NICU in appreciation to the compassionate care they provided to his granddaughters or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the love, prayers, and support shown during this painful time.
