Obituary

Pauline G. Gerhart, 93, of Columbia, was welcomed into the gates of Heaven on October 1, 2023. Born and raised in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Amos M. and Ella B. Groff. She was the loving wife of the late Benjamin J. Shenk, Emerson Kane, and Lewis Clark Gerhart.

Many will fondly remember Pauline for her pies. She ran Mrs. Shenk's Pies at Columbia Market and East Market in York. Her pies won many awards at local fairs over the years. She and her husband Benjamin also owned Village Flower Shop in Millersville for many years. She enjoyed traveling, camping in the mountains, and bowling. She was a member of Farm Women 23, Central Manor Camp Meeting, and the Women's Bible Study at Manor Church where she was a longtime member.

Pauline is survived by her children, Donna Dorough, wife of Michael of Columbia, Dennis Shenk, husband of Crystal of Holtwood, and Dale Shenk of Lancaster; 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in passing by her brothers, Wilmer Groff, and J. Newlin Groff.

A funeral service honoring Pauline will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 441 N. George St., Millersville, PA 17551. The family will receive guests from 9 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anne's Retirement Community, "Day of Stay", 3952 Columbia Ave., Columbia, PA 17512
