Paul A. Witmer, 93, of New Providence, died Monday, June 9, 2014 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy.

Born in Lampeter, he was the husband of the late Anna Louise "Nancy" (Kendig) Witmer, who died November 29, 2013. They had been married 62 years. He was the son of the late Eli R. and Mary K. (Kreider) Witmer.

Paul loved gardening and enjoyed visiting Longwood Gardens with his wife.

He was employed as an agent for NY Life Insurance Company for 30 years until his retirement.

An Army veteran of WWII, he was a member of Millersville Mennonite Church and the Millersville Lion's Club.

Paul is survived by three sons: David K. Witmer and his wife Margaret of Lancaster, Paul A. Witmer, Jr. and his wife Connie of Conestoga, and James K. Witmer and his wife Kathy of Lancaster; a daughter, Anna C. "Cathy" Mentzer and her husband Mark of New Providence; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Myer and her husband Marvin of Allentown. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Melvin, Elwood, Clair, and Lloyd Witmer.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 13, 2014 at Millersville Mennonite Church, 437 Manor Ave., Millersville with Pastors Wesley and Millie Penner officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
