Paul L. Schmid, 71, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on August 8, 2014 at the Hershey Medical Center. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Lloyd G. and Margaret A. (Taylor) Schmid. Paul was the husband of Edna Mae (Brockie) Schmid with whom he celebrated 39 years of marriage.

A veteran, Paul served in the United States Air Force. He retired after 27 years of service as a painter in the maintenance department of Lancaster General Hospital. Paul enjoyed playing softball and was an avid Phillies fan.

In addition to his wife, Edna Mae, Paul is survived by his step-children: Robert B. Dommel, husband of Marianne, of Lancaster, PA, Lady Von Essence, wife of Gary Witmer, of Millersburg, PA and Gregory P. Dommel, husband of Carla, of Lancaster, PA; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Roy Schmid of FL and Ronald Schmid of Wrightsville, PA.

Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing from 6-8 PM on Monday, August 11, 2014 and again on Tuesday from 10-11 AM at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
