Paul F. McKinsey, Esq., 93, of Lancaster, born 1917, passed away on December 25, 2010 at Hospice of Lancaster County Essa Flory Center.
Born in Lancaster, he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Lutz McKinsey, who died in 1991. He was the son of the late Joseph L. and Louise McKinsey.
He lived most of his life at 1406 Springside Drive, Lancaster. Paul lived at Woodcrest Villa, until his death.
He had a private law practice in Lancaster and Quarryville from 1946 until 1985 at which time he became of counsel with the Appel & Yost Law Firm. He served as Solicitor for the U.S. Office of Housing, and as an expeditor for Lancaster and Berks Counties. He was also a Solicitor for Colerain Township and Quarryville Borough Sewer Authority. He also served on the Board of View for Lancaster County. He was a member of the Lancaster and Pennsylvania Bar Associations.
Paul graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School in 1936 and Franklin and Marshall College in 1940. He received the Wagner Award for Political Science (Major).Paul then graduated from Dickinson School of Law in 1943 and served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a Staff Sgt. During WWII, working in the legal and investigation fields, both in the United States and Pacific Theatre. While stationed at Hamilton Field CA., he was assigned to the Security Contingent for the world representatives that arrived in San Francisco to the form the United Nations.
Paul was a long-time member of the Conestoga Country Club, where he enjoyed playing golf. He also enjoyed swimming and playing bridge. He was volunteer for Meals-On-Wheels and the Lancaster Regional Medical Center.
He is survived by a daughter Karen McKinsey Rineer companion of Thomas W. Williams III of Lititz; 2 grandchildren Brian K. Geller husband of Shelly Geller of York and Allison M. Swords wife of Mitchell Swords of Lititz; 4 great grandchildren: Nicholas, Andrew, and Benjamin Geller and McKinsey Marie Swords, and a brother George McKinsey. A brother, Joseph McKinsey and two sisters, Gladys McKinsey and Mary Allen, preceded him in death.
A viewing will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 W. Walnut St., Lancaster, PA on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 10-11AM, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11am with The Rev. Michael E. Messner as Celebrant. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
