Paul Haberstroh, 74, of Lancaster, went home to be with his Savior on June 15, 2009. He leaves behind his wife, children, grandchildren and friends that will greatly miss him. Born June 29, 1934 in Black Forrest, Germany to the late Amalia Diehl. He was preceded in death by his step-father, A. Haberstroh.
He married Elizabeth M. Uhlrich of Lancaster on October 11, 1958. They recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.
In his teens, he came to America where he received his American Citizenship in 1959. He served 2 years in the 1 st Battalion, 13 th Infantry Regiment of the US Army, taking his basic training in Colorado.
Paul was a molder at the Lancaster Malleable Casting Co for 44 years, where he received numerous awards for attendance. After retiring, he worked part-time at The Old Country Buffet and most recently at Weis Markets. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lancaster.
His love of woodworking produced many pieces of furniture that will remain with his family and will always be a reminder of his love. He will be missed by his card partners Pete, Paul, Alex, and Dick when they play Hearts. His other interests included bowling, playing pool, gardening and animals. His favorite animals were rabbits, cats, and German Sheppard dogs.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Ann wife of Charles Fulmer of Gap, Paul of Lancaster, Peter husband of Nihal of Gap, and Theresa wife of Jose Calichs of Ephrata; his grandchildren, William, Christopher, Alex, Abby, Josh, Jesse, Kyla, and Jose Jr. He is also survived by 2 brothers and 1 sister, Walter, Hans, and Rita, all of Germany. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Gerhard and Robert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary' Catholic Church 119 S. Prince St., Lancaster 17603 with Rev. Leo Goodman as celebrant. Family and friends will be received Monday, June 22, 2009 at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz 17543 from 7-9 p.m. and again on Tuesday at the church from 9-10 a.m. Interment will follow Mass at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman Pa.
