Paul J. Burns, 85, of Lancaster, died on Monday, December 8, 2014 at Homestead Village. Born in Caldwell, ID, was the son of the late Thomas N. and Mary Helen (Morgan) Burns. In August, Paul celebrated 59 years of marriage with his wife Carloyn A. Williams Burns.
He was a graduate of Regis High School in Denver, CO and earned dual degrees in Electrical Engineering and Master of Business Administration from Regis University and the University of Colorado, Boulder, CO. Paul worked in marketing and sales for over 40 years, spanning employment with RCA (New Jersey, California, Illinois and Lancaster, PA) and Clinton Electronics in Rockford, Illinois and Emtrol in Lancaster, PA, serving as a Vice President in each organization.
Paul was a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree Knight and Past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council 6810. He belonged to Service Corps of Retired Executives-SCORE, the RCA Retirees, Fulton Guild and was past president of Kiwanis in Illinois.
Surviving Paul in addition to his wife Carolyn are their 7 children: Thomas R. Burns, husband of Soohaeng of Hong Kong; Anne E. Weigel, wife of Marc of Farmington, NM; Joseph P. Burns and Suzanne of Fort Worth, TX; Catherine M. Hoffman, wife of Tim of Glen Ellyn, IL; Mary R. Grill, wife of Daniel L. of Lancaster, PA; Patricia E. Hampel, wife of Rob of Roswell, GA; and John P. Burns, husband of Alicia of Vienna, VA and 14 grandchildren: Amy, Ricky and Marie Burns; Colin, Erin and Ryan Hoffman; Austin and Eric Grill; Henry, Quinn and Kate Hampel; Keenan Parker, Patrick and Delaney Burns. Paul was preceded in death by his siblings: Sr. Clarina Burns, Robert Burns and Helen Doyle.
Paul's Funeral Mass will take place 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, with Rev. William J. Sullivan as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. The Celebration of Paul's life will continue with a reception in the PRC building on the campus of Homestead Village, 1800 Village Circle, Lancaster, PA 17603, and will begin after mass/entombment. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Capital Campaign, 2427 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA 17601 or to A Woman's Concern, P.O. Box 1018, Lancaster, PA 17608-1018.
