Patricia A. Tearney, 85, of Brethren Village, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon at Hospice & Community Care. Patricia was born in Lancaster, PA, and was the daughter of the late Frank and Florence (Bitner) Rieker. Patricia's husband of 64 years John R. Tearney preceded her in death on August 2, 2014.
A graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, she worked as the office manager for her husband John at Tearney Plumbing and Heating for over 45 years. After retiring from the family business Patricia continued working for Sheely's Jeweler and JC Penney in Lancaster. Patricia was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she enjoyed the noon Mass with her husband. She loved spending time with her family and cheering for Phillies baseball with John.
Surviving Patricia are 2 daughters, Kathleen L., wife of William Howard and Christine M., wife of Gerard Walsh, both of Lancaster; four granddaughters, Stacy Baldwin, Melissa Edwards, Kelly Walsh and Maureen Conte; 3 great grandchildren, Ethan, Addison and Colin; and 3 sisters, Florence Stoner of Mount Joy, Elizabeth, wife of Anthony Cetrone of Nashua, NH, and Shirley Burger of Lancaster. Pat was preceded in death by her siblings Josephine, Frank, Charles, Mary and George.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday October 14, 2014, at 10:00 am at St Mary's Catholic Church, 119 S. Prince St., Lancaster, PA with Rev. Philip G. Burger (her nephew) as Celebrant. A visitation with the family will be at the church on Tuesday morning from 9 to 10 am. Interment will take place in St Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
