Ovidio Mercado Sr., 76, of Lancaster, died Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Hamilton Arms, Lancaster. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he was the husband of Ruth H. (Rettew) of Lancaster. Ovidio was an avid outdoorsman, and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a talented mechanic and loved working on his cars. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses East Congregation in Lancaster. In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by 2 sons: Ovidio Mercado, Jr of Fredericksburg, VA and Rickey Mercado and his wife Meg of Lancaster; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, David Mercado. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 850 Hershey Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603.
