Omer Eli King, 77, died at Hershey Medical Center on Monday, February 21, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Martha (Marty) S. (Kanagy) King. He was born in Belleville, Pennsylvania on April 22, 1944 and was the son of the late Daniel N. and Sylvia (Hostetler) King.
Omer attended school until grade nine when he left to work the family farm. After receiving his GED, he went on to receive his Master of Divinity from Eastern Baptist (Palmer) Theological Seminary. Omer formally retired in 2013 after serving 43 years as a Pastor and Interim Pastor with the Brethren in Christ and Mennonite Churches. After he retired, he drove school bus in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania and also in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
He and his wife, Marty, have lived in Brethren Village for three years and are long-time members of the Brethren in Christ Church community. Omer was strongly mission-minded and had a passion for inviting others to Jesus, connecting with them in loving relationships, equipping them to serve, and supporting them as they were sent into the world.
Omer also had a passion for learning about his ancestry and spent much time tracking down information back to the tenth generation. He also loved his extended family and spent over 25 happy summers gathering together at the "King Cabin". Family will remember him, not only for his love for Jesus, but also for his genuine interest and care for their lives and his love for fun and fireworks.
In addition to Marty, Omer is survived by his children, Nathan D. King, Lititz and Jeffrey S. King, Lancaster, and 1 grandson, Alexander (Xander) V. King as well as one brother, Samuel (Joyce) King, Belleville, PA and three sisters, Nancy (Richard) Marsh, Jacksonville, FL, Esther (Glenn) Troyer, Sugarcreek, OH, and Verna (Guy) Rocker, Port Leyden, NY along with many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Omer was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel N. King, Jr. and a sister.
Funeral services will be 4:00pm on Friday, March 4 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 3110 Lititz Pike Lititz, PA 17543 with Rev. Warren Hoffman. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until the start of the funeral service on Friday, March 4, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 3110 Lititz Pike Lititz, PA 17543. The burial at Locust Grove Cemetery in Belleville will be private.
