Obituary

Ole M. Olsen, a native and resident of Norway until his seventh birthday, arrived in New Jersey in 1927 to begin a new life in Teaneck with his parents, Leonard and Olanda, and siblings; Lars, Erling, and later, Grace.

At age 18, he enlisted in the 99th Infantry Battalion Separate (Norwegian-American Ski Troops) of the United States Army and fought in the European theatre of World War II, during which time he received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat.  Upon returning from the War, he took a job as a flooring salesman, eventually choosing it as his career.  He met his wife, Ruth Morgan, in 1946, and together they raised two daughters, Jeanne and Janice, who went on to marry Roger Nokes and Kevin Henry, respectively.

In 1959, Ole opened his own flooring store, Ole Olsen Co., in Park Ridge, New Jersey, where his business operated successfully until his retirement in 1990.  Ole grandfathered his daughter's two children, Graham and Kimberly Olsen Henry, and spent his later years living close to his family in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

He was a lifetime member of Rotary International, the Veteran's Association, and the Saints and Sinner's Yacht Club of Port St. Lucie, Florida.  Ole passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 21, in Lancaster.  He was 90 years old.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, and his three siblings.

Private Services and Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
