Noble Benning, 84, of Lancaster, died Friday, January 27, 2012 at Lancaster Regional Medical Center. Born in Reidsville, NC, he was the son of the late Henry Benning and Mary Luke Maynor.
Private Benning served in the US Army in Europe during WWII with the 644 th Artillery Anti Aircraft Weapons C Battalion. He worked in the mottle department at Armstrong World Industries, retiring in 1993.
A 32 Degree Mason, Noble belonged to King Solomon Lodge #152 F&AM. He also belonged to the Conestoga Elks Lodge # 140, Garden Spot VFW Post 1690 and American Legion Post 495.
Surviving are 8 children, Daylene Benning, Conway, SC, Nobel Benning, Jr. and Claudia Benning, San Diego, CA, Richard Isom, Hyattsville, MD, Sonjia Anderson, Lancaster, Kelly Costello, Antioch, TN, and Michel Benning, Sr., Lancaster, a stepson Joseph Benning, Lancaster, 23 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. Noble's daughters Mary Frances Benning and Ann Montaque and brothers Sylvester Maynor and George Benning preceded him in death.
A Viewing will be held Thursday, February 2, 2012, from 5-7 PM, with Masonic Services followed by Military Honors at 6:45 PM, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E.
