Nellie Virginia Johnson, 62, died unexpectedly in her Manheim Twp. home on Monday, January 21, 2013. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Edward Thompson and Martina Johnson Williams, and step-daughter of the late Thomas Williams, Sr. She was married to Sammie Johnson, Sr. for 46 years last August.
A dedicated homemaker and housewife, Nellie enjoyed, cooking, parenting, traveling, caring for her family and for people in need. She loved family gatherings and spending quality time with her family. She was a faithful member and mother of the church at United Pentecostal Church of Lancaster.
In addition to her husband Sammie, Nellie's family includes 10 children: Sammy Johnson, Jr., husband of Karen L. of Willow Street; The Rev. Ezekiel Johnson, husband of Charlene of Winterville, NC; Isaiah "Ike" Johnson, husband of Tammy L. of Manheim; The Rev. Andre' J. Johnson, husband of Tina M. of Lancaster; Ben V. Johnson, Sr., husband of Yvette of West Chester; David A. Johnson of Lancaster; Julius Johnson, Sr. of Pittsburgh; Tracy Jean, wife of Louis Jean of Lancaster; Jesse Johnson, husband of Sonya of Lancaster; and Trudie Birmingham, wife of Timothy Birmingham, Sr. of East Earl. She is also survived by 32 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 3 siblings: Danny and Sherwood Johnson and Laurie Palmer. Nellie was preceded in death by her son Daniel Johnson.
The Funeral will take place 11 AM Monday, January 28, 2013, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, with Nellie's son The Rev. Ezekiel Johnson and her pastor The Rev. Ronnie J. Eaves officiating. Friends may view and greet the family from 10-11 am on Monday at the funeral home. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home on Monday morning or memorial contributions may be made to the United Pentecostal Church of Lancaster, 747 Centerville Road, Lancaster, PA 17601.
