Obituary

Nell Audi Atty, 100, formerly of 23 Ridgewood Road, Lancaster, PA passed away Thursday at Essa Flory Hospice Center. Before being transferred to Essa Flory Hospice Center Nell lived at Oak Leaf Manor, since October, previously she had lived with her daughter, Patricia at 2461 Raleigh Drive, Lancaster, PA.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on April 3 rd , 1907, she was the daughter of the late Atina Catherine Slyman and John George Audi. Both parents had immigrated to the United States from Lebanon. From her parents Nell inherited a great love of family, developed a strong faith in God and shared a great pride in her Lebanese heritage.

Nell graduated from Coughlin High School and Wilkes-Barre Business School. At one time she owned and operated her own dress shop, "Nell's Shop" in Wilkes-Barre. She married James Atty during WWII and they resided in San Antonio, Texas. After the war they moved to Johnstown, PA, later to Everett, PA and then moved to Lancaster in 1963. Dr. Atty was a professor at Millersville University.

She loved to shop, cook, and most of all enjoyed her close-knit family. Her laughter, smile and warm-heartedness will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Nell's positive attitude, guidance and spirit was a gift to all whose lives she touched.

She is survived by her daughters: Patricia married to Stanley May, Lancaster, PA and Charlyne, married to Duane Holder, Lancaster, PA. Two grandchildren: Tina May married to Dr. Jeffrey Musser, Lititz, PA., and Todd May married to Lisa Stafford May of Lancaster, PA. She has five great grandchildren: Jacob, Zacchary and Hana Musser, Lititz, PA. and Cooper and Carter May of Lancaster, Pa.

In addition Nell is survived by a sister, Margaret wife of Joseph Solomon of Wilkes-Barre, PA. and a brother- in-law, Richard Donoway of Hollidaysburg, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her sisters; Ann Charles, Jean Audi, Kay Audi, Lillian(Honey) Audi, Barbara Audi, sister in law Margaret Donoway and a brother, George Audi.

She was the oldest member of St. Mary's Antiochian Orthodox Church in Wilkes-Barre, PA, and had close ties with St John Chrysostom Orthodox Church of York, PA. and  Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Lancaster, PA.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a viewing and service on Saturday from 4 to 6 PM at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, Pa. A viewing will be held in Wilkes-Barre on Sunday from 2 to 4PM at the Mamary- Durkin Funeral Home, 59 Parrish Street, Wilkes-Barre. The funeral will be Monday at 11:30AM at St Mary's Antiochian Church  Wilkes-Barre. Please meet at the Mamary- Durkin Funeral Home on Monday at 11:00AM . Interment will be in the church cemetery.
