Obituary

Nancy L. Evarts, 80 of Millersville, formerly of Rochester, NY passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Arbor View at Willow Valley. Born in Corry, PA she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Mildred (Dahlstrand) Lyons. She was married to C. McCollister Evarts M.D. Nancy grew up in Western NY and attended the University of Rochester, School of Nursing where she earned her RN degree. While she was working as a nurse and teaching in the School of Nursing, she met a medical student who would become her devoted husband of more than 58 years. After leaving nursing, Nancy became a full-time wife and mother and was the rock upon which Mac built his career. Her support of Mac was exceeded only by her love and devotion for her children and grandchildren. She was a friend and role model to many whom she met while living in Cleveland, Rochester and Hershey. She volunteered for several years in the Storehouse at Asbury First United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening, music, reading and bird watching. A kind and gentle soul, Nancy was fiercely loyal and had a strong faith in God with whom she now resides. In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her daughter, Cyndie Goldberg, wife of Stuart, of Lancaster and their children, Daniel, Benjamin, and Samuel; her son, Mark Evarts, husband of Bonner Kyle, of Austin, TX and their children, Hadie, Callie, Mason and Eleanor; and her son, Rob Evarts, husband of Julie, of Millersville, and their children, Sarah, Mac, Emma, and Tessa as well as her sister, Margaret David, wife of Milton, of Rochester, NY. She was preceded in death by her 2 brothers, Harry and John Lyons. Memorial Services will be held in Rochester, NY at a later date. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Nancy's memory may be made to the Asbury First United Methodist Church Storehouse, 1050 East Ave, Rochester, NY 14607 or to the Mountain View Association Legacy Fund, P.O.
