Myrtle C. Diffenderfer, 95, of Lititz, PA passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center.  Born in Central City, KY, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Donna (Brown) Carter.  Myrtle was a devoted Sailor's wife of 60 years to the late Robert L. Diffenderfer who died in August 2010.

Myrtle was a unique woman.  She attended Cumberland University in Lebanon, TN.  She worked for the Atomic Energy Commission which allowed her to be instrumental in the construction of the Atomic Bomb.  Because of her clearance, Myrtle also worked in the Pentagon.  She worked other government office positions until her retirement.  She was a member Grace Evangelical Congregational Church of Lancaster, PA and Virginia Beach Free Will Baptist Church; and Metropolitan Music Club in VA.

Surviving is a good friend and cousin: James Diffenderfer of Lancaster, PA; a niece and a nephew; and two God-children: Catherin Bobbette Tatum and John William Tatum, III.  Myrtle was preceded in death by a sister: Carolyn McAdams.

A viewing will be held from 10-11:30 AM on Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543.  A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Virginia Beach Free Will Baptist Church, 210 South Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462 with Rev. Dr. J.D.
