Myra Jane Ober, 98, of Lititz, Pennsylvania, passed away on October 1, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Mineola, NY to the late Kenneth and Agnes Christina (Klovekorn) Hargreaves. She was pre-deceased by her husbands, Stanley Ober (2016), also of Lititz, and Joseph Gebhardt (1965) of Massapequa Park, NY.

Myra was a 1943 graduate of Sewanhaka High School, Floral Park, NY. Upon graduation she was employed by the Sperry Corporation in Lake Success, NY as a draftsman working on the design of products central to the war effort. In 1948-49 she attended Montana University in Missoula, Montana, completing her freshman year after which she returned east to marry her first husband. After his untimely passing she returned to college and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Adelphi University, graduating in 1970.

She then embarked on a career as a Social Worker with Nassau County Social Services, retiring in 1993. In her retirement she built a new life in Lititz with Stanley Ober and the rest of the Ober clan. She became active with the Democratic Club of Lancaster and Valley Forge Rug Braiding Group where she built many valued and trusted friendships. In recent years you could see her in her car running errands – probably the oldest Tesla driver in Lancaster County if not the country.

Myra is survived by a brother and sister, Robert Hargreaves and Mary Bicklehaupt (Chuck), three children, James T. Gebhardt (Sharon) (Albany, NY) Joanna Gebhardt (Lititz), John Jay Gebhardt (Lancaster, PA); stepson Eric Ober (Francesca) (Cambridge, England), three grandchildren, Christopher Farrell (Sheena), Jennifer Gebhardt (fiancée Matthew Chin) and James (JT) Gebhardt, Jr and 5 step-grandchildren, Audrey Fischer, Raquella, Caterina and Margherita Ober and Dino Matroni; two great-grandchildren, Sienna and Harper Farrell; a host of nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Patricia Hargreaves.

In addition to her husbands, Myra was pre-deceased by her sister Alice Fay and brothers, John E. Hargreaves and Thomas F. Hargreaves.

Myra also wanted to acknowledge many of her dear friends from across the years for their kindness, love, and good times – Blanche Bachman, Lovey Bryson, Marge Brady, Mary Cunningham, Terri Eshleman, Beverly Gilmore, Joan Hargreaves, Ros Joel, Dottie Pepe, George and Mary Sayles.

Family and friends will be received for a viewing from 11AM to 12PM, Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
