Murray Paul Mathiot, 67, of 100 Willow Valley Dr., Lancaster died Sunday, January 8, 2006, at his residence.

He retired in 1993 after 34 years with the US Postal Service as a Dock Supervisor.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  He served in the US Navy.

Born in Lancaster he was the son of the late Edgar and Irene Fasnacht Mathiot.  He was the adopted son of the late Anna and Joseph Schmalhofer.  His step-mother, Elva Mathiot lives in Lexington, Virginia.

Surviving besides his step-mother are three daughters; Deborah married to Robert Yinger of Strasburg; Lynn Graham and Jeanine Mathiot both of Lancaster; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; three sisters; Sister Bernadine Schmalhofer of Philadelphia; twin sisters; Shirley Mathiot Herr of Lancaster and Sharley Mathiot of Hawthorne, CA.  He was preceded in death by six adopted brothers and sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St., Lancaster on Friday, January 20 ^th , 2006 at 1:00pm.  Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Lebanon VA Medical Center, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042.
