George Douglas Gibson, 61, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013. He was the husband of Gloria Brown Gibson, with whom he celebrated 40 years of marriage this past October 22nd. Born in Medford, MA, he was the son of the late George A. and Thelma J. Fenton Gibson, and stepson of the late Philomena Gibson. Doug was the owner of Heating And Cooling By George LLC of Lancaster. He had attended and graduated from Stevens Technical School with an Associate's Degree. Prior to this, he was a 20 year veteran of the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant prior to his retiring in 1992. His military career started at RAF Mildenhall in England and then included stations in Wichita, KS, the Pentagon in Washington, DC, Incirlik Turkey, Pease AFB in New Hampshire, Vandenberg AFB in California, and Andrews AFB in Maryland where he was in charge of the hanger that housed Air Force One. He also was deployed and served in the Middle East during Operation Desert Storm Gulf War I. He loved his country and his family very much. He also enjoyed camping in a tent. He attended Faith Bible Fellowship Church. In addition to his wife, Gloria, he is survived by his daughter, Brigette J. Gibson, his son David K. P. Gibson, both of Lancaster; his sister Thelma Beavin of Olympia WA, and his brother Paul Gibson of Woburn, MA. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Gibson. Private interment to be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors. Friends will be received on Thursday, November 14, 2013 from 6-7PM at Faith Bible Fellowship Church, 151 Donnerville Rd., Lancaster, PA 17603, with the Memorial Service to follow at 7PM, the Revs. David Thomann and Claire Harstad officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in his memory to Faith Bible Fellowship Church at the above address or to the Wounded Warrior Project, Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675
