Misael "Shorty" Martinez, 58, of Lancaster, was welcomed into the open arms of Jesus, on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico he was the beloved son of Antonio Martinez Nieves and Adelaida Rivera Torres and was later adopted by Violet Roman and the late Nelson Roman. Misael was the loving significant other of Dominga Marquez.

Renowned as a jack of all trades, Misael was always engaged in home projects or extending his skilled services to anyone in need. He consistently saw the best in everyone, never passing judgment, and was always ready to help a stranger in need, even if it meant giving them the shirt off his back. His deep passion for cars led him to become a skilled self-taught mechanic, earning him the affectionate nickname "Shorty the Mechanic" within the community. A man of strong faith, Misael enjoyed listening to Contemporary Christian music, Salsa, and Freestyle. He had a unique sense of humor and loved watching comedy shows, particularly those featuring Wayne Brady, Charlie Sheen, and Richard Pryor. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing handball and basketball with neighborhood friends.

Surviving are four children, Jennifer Martinez, Melissa Martinez wife of Jermahl Ranson, Misael Martinez, Mia Martinez, a stepdaughter, Nyasia Roman, eleven grandchildren, four sisters, three adopted sisters, six brothers, and an adopted brother. Preceding him in death is a granddaughter.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Misael's Funeral Service at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 East King Street, Lancaster, on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 2:00 PM. There will be a time of viewing and visitation with the family on Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM and again on Friday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
