Obituary

Millie Jo Miller, of Lancaster, PA passed peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Millie Jo was married to the love of her life, Robert J. Miller, for almost 70 years (April 7th). She was the most loving, caring, and amazing mother of three children: Barbara Ann, wife of James Wiser of Willow Street; Susan Williams, wife of Dale of Burlington, Ontario, Canada; and, Bob Miller, husband of Wendy of Landisville. She was a devoted grandmother to six grandchildren: Dale James (Holly), Jonathan, Joel (Michelle), Kathryn, Bobby and Laura. She adored her three great-grandchildren: Nathan, Kylie and Luca. Millie Jo is survived by her cousins in the United States and Italy, nieces and nephews and good friends. Lucy, her beloved yellow labrador-able, was the "twinkle in her eye" for ten years.

Preceded in death by her parents John and Catherine (Fulginiti) Caterbone, brother Joseph, sister Marion, and brother Sam. Millie Jo graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School in 1954 where she was a Junior Varsity and Varsity Cheerleader. As she always said, "The best damn cheerleader Lancaster Catholic ever had!"

Bob and Millie Jo met at age 16, at a dance at St. Anthony's. Love at first sight…

Millie Jo worked for years at the Bearing Company and Hamilton Watch in her early years. When the family business of R. J. Miller Concrete Contractor began, she managed the office for 35+ years.

She also enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, and spending time at the Mountains in northern PA and their cottage on the Bush River, MD. Millie Jo loved cooking on Sundays for her family, and it was the best there was! She also enjoyed hosting friends and extended family on special occasions. She earned three First Place Awards for her homemade spaghetti sauce.

In addition to her love for cooking and baking, she bowled with the Elks Ladies Team and played Bunco with friends. She was a member of the Senior's Group at St. Anthony's Church for years with her two sisters-in-law Dorothy Yohn and Joanne Caterbone. Millie Jo & Bob hosted Italian Day Dinners at the Elks for five years. She loved travelling with Bob to Italy on many occasions to see her cousins, taking cruises to the Caribbean including the Panama Canal, visiting Las Vegas, and road trips to the Shore and New Orleans with her family.

She was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Parish.

It deserves to be noted that Dad took care of Mother's Dialysis for five years, over 4,000 treatments (I'm all hooked up, da-da-da) which involved treatment through every night into the morning. Much Gratitude to Barbara Ann for her dedicated nursing to our mother.

The family would like to share their Sincere Appreciation to the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute, the DaVita Manheim Pike Dialysis Team – most especially Dr. Jeffrey L. Martin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603. Interment will follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA.
