LTC Michael J Newton (52), Loving partner to Krista Burghardt, Son of John and Roberta Newton, Brother of Timothy and Lorah Newton and Uncle to Violet and Sadie Newton passed away unexpectedly on the 27th of August 2024 in Tuscaloosa, AL.

LTC Newton was a 34-year veteran of the US Army and served honorably in Iraq, Kosovo, and Korea. Michael was employed with the University of Alabama's ROTC Program where he mentored young officer candidates on their path to become Commissioned Officers in the US Army. As a lifelong scholar Michael was decidedly committed to the continuance of his educated earning undergraduate degrees in Aviation Management, History, as well as a master's in leadership studies. Along with his family, military service, career, and academics Michael also loved reading, music, college football, The NY Rangers, Yankees, Giants and Knicks.

Family will receive friends on Monday, September 9, 2024 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Ave, Lancaster, PA 17601 from 10am to 11am with a Mass of Christian burial to begin at 11am. Michael will be laid to rest at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery following services.
