Michael Miller, 81, of Landisville, died Sunday, August 13, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy. He was born in Lancaster to the late Charles K. and Lorene Roth Miller. Mike and his wife, Arlene Zimmerman Miller, would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on August 24th.
A 1954 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, Mike completed his B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Penn State in 1958. He was a proud Penn State alumnus and a member of the Theta Xi fraternity. Mike began his career at Lukens Steel in Coatesville in 1958 and earned his Professional Engineer's License in 1962. He became assistant plant manager of Cleaver-Brooks in Lebanon and later held engineering positions at various manufacturing companies. Mike also sold commercial real estate for Engle-Hambright & Davies, Inc. for many years. He proudly continued doing professional engineering consultation into his retirement until several weeks before his passing.
Mike was a longtime active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Landisville.
In addition to his wife Arlene, Mike is survived by their daughters, Judith A., wife of Jeffrey Fulginiti of Lancaster and Jennifer M., wife of Abram Barley of Washington Boro; nine grandchildren, Samantha, Timothy and Matthew Hahn, Abigail, Eleanor and John "Jack" Barley, Allegra, wife of Cesar Barragan and Chiara and Giselle Miller; and his sister Susan, wife of Daniel Strecker. Mike was preceded in death by his son Michael C. Miller and his brother Charles K. Miller, Jr.
Mike's family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 PM on Saturday, August 26 and 12:30 to 1:30 PM on Sunday, August 27th, followed by the Memorial Service at 1:30 PM. All events will take place at Zion Lutheran Church, 85 Brandt Blvd., Landisville, PA 17538. Private interment took place in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
