IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael E.
Horning
March 25, 1954 – April 12, 2025
The family of Michael E. Horning regretfully announce his passing on April 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 71 years old. Born March 25, 1954, in Emporium, PA, he was the son of the late Ernest and Irene Horning. He shared nearly 53 years of marriage and memories with his high school sweetheart, Karen (Werst) Horning.
Many will remember Mike as a graduate of Manheim Township High School, class of 1972. He also dedicated many years serving his community in varying roles at Weis Markets, an auto mechanic, and dairy technician. His love for the outdoors was unmatched; he was an avid hunter who embraced every hunting season. Many cherished memories were made in the woods with family and friends, where laughter and stories were as plentiful as the deer they pursued.
He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan, though his favorite players to cheer for were those that called him "Grampa". Whether he was cheering them on in sports, sharing stories in the woods, or cooking, family was the key to Mike's happiness.
Mike's memory and love will live on in his wife Karen, their children, Michelle E. O'Brien, wife of Daniel of Lansdale, Scott E. Horning of Chesapeake, VA, and Timothy A. Horning, husband of Cynthia, of Manteca, CA, grandchildren, Nate, Kellie, Dylan, Liam, Nicolas, and Owen, and siblings, Sharon Castillo, Gary Horning (Ann), Randy Horning (Joyce), David Horning (Tracy), as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family welcome guests to a viewing at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, from 9:30 AM – 11 AM, on Monday, April 21, 2025. A funeral service honoring Mike will begin at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Conestoga Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice & Community Care .
