Michael Patrick Gentile, 21, of Lancaster passed very quickly at Lancaster General Hospital on Friday, July 29, 2016. Born in York, PA he was the son of Dennis P. and Cynthia A. (Coleman) Gentile. Michael was currently an active college student studying Political Science at Penn State Harrisburg and also worked part time for UPS as a loader along with his sister Kathryn. He was very active in politics, most recently working on the Bernie Sanders campaign. Michael loved hiking, reading, watching movies and gardening. He and his sister Kathryn were best friends and loved to garden together. Michael was funny, witty, loved animals and enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Eagles, sharing his knowledge with others and hanging out with friends and family. He was a very bright young man with many dreams for the future. Michael was a member of St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church in Lancaster. In addition to his parents he is survived by his sister Kathryn G. Gentile of Lancaster; two aunts Michelle Coleman (Kevin Good) of Bernville, PA and Deb Gentile (Linda King) of Solbury; one uncle John Coleman of York, PA and a special cousin Samantha Coleman and many other cousins. He was fortunate to have many close friends. We will all miss him very much. Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents Doris and John Coleman and Claire and Patrick Gentile, one aunt Vicki (Coleman) Patton and a great-aunt Pauline Coleman. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 5, 2016 at 10:30AM from St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Ave. Lancaster, PA 17601 with Fr. Peter I. Hahn and Fr. Bernardo Pistone as Concelebrants. Interment will be held at the convenience of his family at Susquehanna Memorial Park, York, PA. Viewings will be held Thursday August 4, 2016 from 6-8PM from the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543 and on Friday from 9AM until the time of his funeral mass at the Church. A Christian Prayer Service will be held Thursday evening at 7:30PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Ronald McDonald House Charities Inc. 26345 Network Place Chicago, IL 60673-1263 or the Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine, 780 E. Pratt St. 17th Floor, Baltimore, MD 21202 in his memory.
