Obituary

Mervin "Mup" R. Miller, 87, formerly of Lehighton, PA, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Weatherwood Nursing and Rehab Center, Weatherly, PA. He was the husband of the late Mary L. (Wolfe) Miller. Born in Northampton, PA, he was the son of the late Nester John Miller and Jessie Almedian Reynolds. Mup served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Wyoming, as well as the USS Mississippi as a Fireman First Class. Upon his discharge from the Navy, he was awarded the Victory WWII medal. Mup retired from Bethlehem Steel as a steel worker. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Ranger Lake and attended many events at Andreas Sporting Club. Mervin is survived by his daughter; Delores, wife of Robert A. Kintz of Lehighton, a son; Dennis Miller of Tamaqua, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 16th at 11AM at Zion Lutheran Church, Pine St., Packerton. Family and friends are invited to the church from 10:30-11AM for a visitation prior to the service. Inurnment will follow at Packerton Cemetery with full military honors.
