Mervin S. Mellinger, 85, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016. He was the husband of Dorothy E. Kreider Mellinger, with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Jesse K. and Sue Snader Mellinger. Mervin had been a mail carrier for the US Postal Service for 31 years, retiring in the early 1990s. His Christian faith was of great importance in his life, as well as his family. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by his children: Brenda married to Paul Souders of Conestoga, Jeffrey Mellinger of Lititz, and Todd married to Cori Mellinger of Strasburg; his 6 grandchildren and his two great grandchildren. Mervin's family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of Brethren Village and Hospice and Community Care for the great care and kindness given to Mervin.
