Matthew G. Polignone, 88, passed away at his Lampeter home on Tuesday, April 19, 2016. He was born in Lancaster to the late Matthew and Marie Antoinette Silvestri Polignone.

He served in the US Navy during WWII as a Storekeeper 3rd Class and the US Army during the Korean War as a Tech Sergeant Medical Corpsman. Matthew earned his master's in education and was an English teacher at Penncrest High School in Media and an adjunct professor at St. Joseph University in Philadelphia.

Matthew is survived by his sister Josephine M. Polignone. He was preceded in death by his loyal friend Eugene Hinkle.

A Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Deogratias Rwegasira at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 10:00 am. Interment with Military Honors will be in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
