Obituary

Maryann (Dieffenbach) Phillips, 74, of Lancaster, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Senior Living, Lancaster. Born in Shamokin, PA, Maryann was the daughter of the late Frederic C. & Catherine M. (Schindler) Dieffenbach, Sr. and was the wife of the late Douglas G. Phillip who passed away in 2006. Maryann worked as laborer form many years and eventually managed a Burger King restaurant for 22 years until her retirement. She enjoyed life to its fullest and especially loved her church, Highville United Methodist Church, Conestoga. She also served as a member of the Cluster Church Council. Maryann loved butterflies and even enjoyed raising them. She also was an avid reader of fiction books, played card games, and spent leisure time crocheting and listening to country music. More than anything, Maryann loved her family. She is survived by 5 children: Douglas C. Phillips, husband of Kathleen, of Ephrata, Tammy L. Booth, wife of Jeffery L., of Lancaster, Colleen D. Brinkman, wife of Eric R., of Conestoga, Susan M. Herbein, wife of Shawn M., of Lancaster, and Kristin N. Shaffer, wife of Gary L., of Hellam; 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Maryann is also survived by 2 siblings: Robert Dieffenbach, husband of Kathryn, of Ephrata and Beverly Gimber, wife of Carl, of Lancaster. In addition to her parents and husband, Maryann was preceded in death by her daughter, Kay M. Phillips Oatman and her brother, Frederick C. Dieffenbach, Jr. A Funeral Service will be held at 7PM, Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N. George St., Millersville, PA 17551 with the Rev. Rick Martin officiating. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Maryann's name may be made to the Highville United Methodist Church, 3327 River Road, Conestoga, PA 17516.
