IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Lou
Stoner
March 15, 2024
Mary Lou Stoner, 83, of Manheim, passed away on March 15, 2024. Born to Wayne and Ruth Wood, Mary Lou pursued her passion for education, earning a Bachelor of Arts from West Chester University with a major in Education and a minor in Music. Her career spanned over a decade as a dedicated teacher, followed by many years more as a substitute teacher.
A gifted pianist, Mary Lou inherited her love for music from her mother and shared her talent with others through her involvement in the Highland Presbyterian Choir and the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra Chorus. Her melodic voice brought joy to many.
Beyond her love for music and education, Mary Lou had an appreciation for nature and biology. She found joy in gardening, nurturing flowers, and strawberries. Her love for the outdoors led her and her husband, Charles Stoner, on hikes in Glacier National Park. A devoted swim team mom, she spent countless hours at the pool with her son and became an avid swimmer herself.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Charles Stoner, their son Ed Stoner husband of Tera, as well as her nephew Keith Grove, niece Ann Wiewall, and several cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Joanne.
Mary Lou Stoner will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering dedication to her family and students, and her deep passion for music and nature. Though she may be gone, her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of Mary Lou's life will be held June 6th at 630pm at Highland Presbyterian Church 500 E Roseville Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Dr, Lancaster, PA 17601. Mary Lou being passionate about today's political climate, would have wanted those considering voting for former President Trump, to reconsider.
Rest in peace, Mary Lou Stoner. Your melody will echo in our hearts.
