Obituary

Mary Lou McCauley, 82, of Harrisburg and formerly of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the Community General Osteopathic Hospital. She was born in Lancaster on Cabbage Hill to the late Charles P. and Anna M. (Scheuchenzuber) Schreck.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 60 years, E. Roy "Mac" McCauley.

She was a R.N. inspecting nursing homes for the Commonwealth of PA. She graduated in 1946 from Sacred Heart Academy and 1949 from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, both of Lancaster.

She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church where she also sang in the choir and was an active volunteer, past President of the Catholic Nurses Guild, Knights of Columbus Council #869 Women's Auxillary.

She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, painting with oils and acrylics, traveling, and spending time with her 13 grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to her husband, 3 sons Timothy D. McCauley, husband of Regina H., of Harrisburg, Andrew J. McCauley, husband of Sandra L., of Elizabethtown, Michael P. McCauley, husband of Patricia J., of Mechanicsburg, 3 daughters, Eileen L. Herb, wife of Stephen R., of Camp Hill, Anne C. Maitland, wife of Michael T., of Carlisle, Mary Ellen Sierhuis, of Palmyra, 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, Jean R. Acklin and Nancy A., wife of John P. Amico, both of Lancaster, Martha J. wife of Paul E. Hopkins, of Claremore, OK and sister-in-law, Barbara Schreck. She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas S. and Charles P. Jr., Schreck and great granddaughter, Katie D. Herb.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Monday, May 23, 2011 at 10:30 am at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church 6150 Allentown Blvd. Harrisburg, PA 17112 with the Rev. Mark Spietel as Celebrant. A viewing will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30-10:30 am. Luncheon will follow Mass with an Interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial Contributions may be made in Mary Lou's memory to The Katie Herb Foundation 233 Walton St. Lemoyne, PA 17043 or Links with Lachie Golf Tournament benefiting The Four Diamonds Fund 1424 Wellgate Lane Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
