The heavens rejoiced Monday, February 26, 2018, with the arrival of Mary A. Martino Roda who turned 100 years of age in December! Born in Lancaster, PA., Mary was the wife of Mando Roda who died in 2007. She was the daughter of Joseph and Clara (Russo)Martino, and sister of Joseph, and Lucy (Eberle) who are all deceased.
Mary leaves behind a legion of devoted family members and friends who will miss her and always remember her beautiful smile, sense of humor, love of the "Big Apple", stories from the past, deep generosity, and of course phenomenal Italian cooking.
Mary is survived by her children: Lawrence A. Roda, husband of Sandra, Armond J. Roda, husband of Karen L., and Claire Marie Van Cleve, wife of George Van Cleve. Mary is also survived by ten grandchildren: Tony Roda, husband of Elizabeth, Daniel Roda, husband of Alyssa, Mark Roda, Tara Kinney, wife of Adam, Kimberly Moorhead, wife of Tim, Tim Roda, husband of Allison, Lauren G., Christine Bauer, wife of Kirk, Samuel Van Cleve, husband of Bria, and Joseph Van Cleve, Sr. In addition to her grandchildren, Mary was the proud great-grandmother of: Oliver, Lucy, Emily, Zachary, Hamilton, Eve, Violet, Georgia, Claire, Noel, Ethan, Rocco, Tres, Andre, Benjamin, Harrison, LilyCatherine, Charlie, Taylor, Samantha, Joey, Jr., Vincent, and Izabelle.
Besides fattening up her family on her delicious Italian cooking, Mary was a housewife who occasionally worked at the S&H Store, Watt & Shand Department Store and the Host Farm Gift Shoppe. Mary was active at St. Anthony of Padua Church and School, volunteering with many fundraisers and committees. She recited her rosary nightly and many relatives were blessed by her power of prayer and devotion to the Blessed Mary.
Along with her husband she traveled throughout the USA and Europe visiting her mothers' hometown of Gasperina, Italy a number of times.
A service will be held at the convenience of the family.
