Mary E. (Powders) Hardnele, 73, of Mountville, passed away at Lancaster General Hospital, on Wednesday, February 1, 2017. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late George and Jennie D. (Madonna) Powders, Sr. Mary was the loving wife of the late Robert Hardnele, Jr. Mary was a Lancaster Catholic High School graduate and worked for Lancaster General Hospital as a cook, retiring after 42 years. Mary was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Lancaster. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as "Nanny Murr." Mary also enjoyed going to the beach, taking cruises, spending time in the mountains, going to the casinos and playing the slot machines. Mary was an avid fan of Christmas movies and Westerns, especially John Wayne films. She is survived by her children: Christine Hardnele, Tracey Dellinger, wife of Stephen, and Jennie Koran, wife of Billy. Mary is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Kimberly, Steven, Kevin, Toni, Jeni, Alec, and Natalie; 3 great-grandchildren: Claudia, Joseph, and Mia; and 2 brothers: George Powders, Jr., companion of Sharon, and Charles Powders, husband of Arlene. Family and friends will be received from 6PM to 7:30PM, Monday, February 6, 2017 at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA 17602. The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 7:30PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM, Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 with Rev. Daniel O'Brien as Celebrant. A viewing will be held from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at the funeral home. Interment will take place immediately following Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
