Mary M. Gegg, 91, of Lancaster, formerly of St. Joseph Street, died peacefully Thursday, November 28, 2013 at St. Anne's Retirement Community. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Barbara (Myers) Mutchler. She was married to the late Albert J. Gegg who passed away in 2010. Mary worked at Armstrong World Industries during World War II, and later went onto work at the former Watt & Shand for over 22 years. A life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mary served as a Eucharistic Minister of the Holy Eucharist and was part of the Women's club and enjoyed bowling at the church for 25 years. Mary was a member of Lancaster Liederkranz, where she volunteered for many of the events. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, swimming and dancing. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Anne's Retirement Community and Hospice & Community Care for the exceptional care given to their mother during her illness. Mary is survived by her children, Mary Lou, wife of Philip McCaskey, of Mission Viejo, CA, Kathleen M., wife of Robert McLaughlin, of Lancaster, Judith A., wife of Barry Maney, of Lititz, John M. Gegg, husband of Kathy, of Tampa, FL, Joseph A. Gegg, husband of Audrey, of Columbia, 13 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by sisters, Ethel Getz, Helen Mutchler, Margaret Hudson, Louise Evans and brothers, Donald and Walter Mutchler. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 11AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St, Lancaster, PA 17603 with Rev. Tariq Isaac as Celebrant. A viewing will be held at the church from 10 until 11AM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary's memory may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hospice & Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125 and St. Anne's Retirement Community.
