Mary Elizabeth Herr (Hershey), 89, of Lancaster, PA, entered her eternal rest on September 26, 2023, following a recent illness.

Mary was born on February 5, 1934, in Lancaster PA, attended Lancaster Mennonite School, and was married on September 3, 1966. Following a month-long honeymoon tour of US national parks, the couple spent the first year of marriage working with Fox Street Mennonite Church in Bronx, NY.

They returned to Lancaster PA, where they raised three daughters and were active members of Sunnyside Mennonite Church. A devoted mother and grandmother, Mary was a homemaker and avid gardener who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was thrilled to recently become a great-grandmother.

Mary is survived by her husband, James, daughters Suzanne (Jim) Weischedel of Lancaster PA, Carolyn (Jeff) Strong of Fairfax VA, and Amy (Pete) Lamberts of Cranford NJ; grandchildren Joel (Madison), Bryan and Eric Weischedel, Evan and Seth Strong, and Jonah and Claudia Lamberts; and great granddaughter Evelyn Jane Weischedel; as well as seven nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be held at Sunnyside Mennonite Church, 337 Circle Ave. Lancaster PA, on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., preceded by a visitation at 10:00 a.m.
