Obituary

Mary H. Cuba, 56, of Lititz, died Wednesday, January 19, 2022 after a 10 year battle with breast cancer. Mary was the wife of Eric W. Cuba for almost 34 years, the mother of Alexander S. Cuba, the daughter of Myron and Monica Mickiewicz of Shavertown, PA, the daughter-in-law of Cynthia Cuba and the late Walter Cuba of Shavertown, PA, and the sister, aunt, teacher, and friend to many. Mary was extremely blessed to be raised by her loving parents, and had an awesome childhood filled by many adventures with them and her best friend, Molly. She always enjoyed the satisfaction of a job well done, beginning with her work at age 9 at Pizza Perfect, a restaurant owned by her Dad, his business partner Bill Rineheimer, and his great high school buddy, Richard Adamchick. At the pizza place is where Mary first laid eyes on the love of her life, Eric. God blessed them with true love for almost 39 years. Mary graduated from Dallas High School, with honors and with the friendships of Sharon, Jocelyn, Janine, Diane, Amy, and many others, and Magna Cum Laude from King's College, Wilkes-Barre PA, where she earned degrees in Mathematics and Secondary Education. By chance, Mary found Linden Hall School for Girls in Lititz PA, while searching for a job near where Eric had his job as a Chemist. She taught math there for 31 years to many girls from around the world. She truly cared for her students and worked to help them always achieve their best. She was so lucky to have her students broaden her horizons by sharing their cultures from countries such as South Korea, Japan, Mexico, China, and many others. She was so proud of her students accomplishments, including many who went on to major in Mathematics or its applications. She always wished the very best for them and reminded them always to do good things for the world! With a strong desire for parenthood, Eric and Mary adopted Alexander from Russia in 2002. Since then, Alex has always been the focus of their life together. Today, with God's help, he is an intelligent, strong, and faith-filled young man. Mary enjoyed most her time with her family. She treasured the hugs, meals, and laughs with everyone. She loved being by water. Her favorite places to visit were Saint John, USVI, where she enjoyed snorkeling, and Sanibel Island, where many hours were spent shelling. Being outside enjoying nature always uplifted her and she thanks her parents for instilling that in her. Mary always felt very blessed by graces from God and had been at peace at times throughout her life, and most especially during her final years. She wished to thank everyone who helped her have such a great life, especially Eric, Alex, her Mom and Dad, her mother-in-law Cynthia, her brothers and sisters: Mike and Amy, Alan and Kelly, Jill and Andy, Sara and Skip and her nieces and nephews: Emma, Sean, Ryan, Jackson, Evelyn, Maddie, Dawson, Taylor, and Jade, her extended family, especially her late Gram whom she admired and looked most alike, friends, students, and colleagues, especially Claudia, who helped her through her work life. She would also like to thank the many priests, teachers, nurses, doctors, counselors, especially JoAnn, and her son's social workers who helped her throughout her lifetime. She wanted to encourage everyone to live life to its fullest and always try to think of others and help them when you can. If you want to honor her memory, please consider doing something nice for others, giving to LInden Hall's Endowment Fund, or giving to your favorite charity. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 11AM. at St. James Catholic Church in Lititz, PA with a visitation hour held before the Mass.
