Marie Jeanette Vitale, 79, passed away December 17, 2017 at St. Anne's Retirement Community. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Ann (Kweder) Winkler. She was a Registered Nurse and had worked for Lancaster Osteopathic Hospital. She was a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, serving proudly in the Nursing Corps. She was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, where she was active in the Legion of Mary for over 20 years. She also enjoyed art and took classes at St. Anne's and was an avid bowler and bowled in the Hospital League, her bowling balls even affectionately displayed her nickname "Winky". She is survived by her loving family, daughters, Teresa Gallager and Eugenia Vitale, both of Millersville, sons, Daniel Vitale Jr., and wife Connie, Allison Park, PA, Damian Vitale and wife Laurie, Hummelstown, PA, eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Xavier, Shawn Gallagher, Sarah, Jenna, Mia Vitale, Matthew, and Christopher Vitale. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Joe Winkler, and three sisters, Connie Applegate, Ann and Helen Winkler. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 21, 2017 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, with viewing from 10:00 AM to service time. There will be visitation from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at St. Anne's Retirement Community Chapel, 3952 Columbia Ave, Columbia. Memorials may be given to St. Anne's Retirement Community Benevolent Fund.
