Marian J. Hess, 93, of Lititz, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Brethren Village Retirement Community, Lititz. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Verna Shultz Kreider. Marian was the loving wife of the late Richard H. Hess for 67 years before his passing in 2018. For most of her life, Marian worked at Slaymaker Lock Company. She had a deep love for animals and enjoyed the time she would sit and watch the birds and get the occasional greeting from the neighborhood kitties. Marian was particularly fond of cardinals. With great patience she was able to feed squirrels and chipmunks from the palm of her hand. More than anything she loved her family and was more than grateful for the staff at Brethren Village with whom she always had great conversations.

Surviving is two nephews: G. Thomas husband of Sharon Mitchell, Steven husband of Gail Mitchell, and a nephew-in-law Greg Long. Preceding her in death in addition to her husband is a sister, Thelma Kreider Mitchell, a brother, Robert Kreider, and a niece, Bonnie Sue Long.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Marian's graveside service at Strasburg Mennonite Cemetery, 1514 Village Road, Strasburg, PA 17579 , on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 11:00 AM. While Marian did enjoy flowers, the family is requesting in lieu of flowers that donations can be made to Community UMC Lancaster, 130 Tennyson Dr, Lancaster, PA 17602.
