Maria B. Wright, 57, of Parkesburg, was welcomed by her Heavenly Father on Monday, October 5, 2026, at home surrounded by the love of her family. Cancer cut her time here short but did not diminish her light. She is the beloved wife of David Wright, with whom she shared 30 years of marriage.
Born in Lancaster in 1969, she was the daughter of the late Kathryn (DeCarlo) & John H. Buckwalter, Jr.
Maria shared her limitless love in countless ways. She worked as a nurse for 26 years, eventually earning her BSN; but she always claimed that motherhood was her first and favorite job. Most recently, she trained service dogs through her volunteer work with United Disability Services, and she also volunteered with the Nurse Honor Guard and PA Vent Camp. She was an active member of Pequea Church and Our Lady of Consolation Parish - one denomination was insufficient to contain her faith. She was a fiercely loyal wife, mother, nonna, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, and friend, and she was an exceptional cook. She was quick-witted and notoriously funny (but looks aren't everything).
Her "zoo" of pets further testifies to her love of all God's creatures: dogs Shiloh and Koda; birds Ping and Stormy; chinchillas Willie and Stevie; and snail Gary.
She is survived by her children, Charles J. Pletcher, II (Sofia), Corinne M. Bridges (Adam), Elisabeth H. Campion (Michael), Nicolas D. Wright (Suzanna); her grandchildren, Asher, Claire, and Arlee Bridges; and her siblings, Jude Buckwalter (Joanna), Shawn Buckwalter (Deb), Leonard Buckwalter (Hasmig), Anthony Buckwalter, and Eric Buckwalter (Roxanne). She was preceded in death by her brother, Brian Buckwalter.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her viewing on Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 6pm until 8pm in the Charles F. Snyder, III Funeral Home, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584, where a second viewing will be held Monday, October 12, from 10am until her funeral service begins at 11:30am. Burial will follow the service in St. Malachi Cemetery, Cochranville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Maria may be made to United Disability Services at https://udservices.org/give/.
