Maria Delcarmen Valentin, 43, of Lancaster, passed away on her birthday surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy, after a 2-year battle with cancer. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of Heriberto Valentin of Brooklyn, and Rosa Cruz of Lancaster. Maria was a member of In the Light Ministries, Lancaster. Maria was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was a strong, caring woman who touched the hearts of and was loved by many. She will be missed by those who knew her. In addition to her parents, Maria is survived by 3 daughters: Amanda Sanchez and her fiancée Justin Flanagan of Mountville; Bianca Cruz of Lancaster; and Alyssa Burke of Mountville; 2 grandchildren: Jayce Jackson and Ky'Lee Maria; a brother, Heriberto Valentin, Jr of Denver, PA; 2 sisters: Edith Oviedo of Brooklyn and Leonor Bruno of Lancaster; and a number of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 Friday, February 3, 2017 at In the Light Ministries, 415 S. Shippen St., Lancaster with Pastor Felipe Hernandez officiating. Family and friends will be received 2 hours prior to the service at the church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
