Obituary

Maria del Pilar (Chauvet del Castillo) Kolgen passed away on January 9, 2025, at home in Lititz, PA. She was born in Ecuador on September 11, 1932, to Marcelo Chauvet and Celia Maria del Castillo de Chauvet and lived at the oceanside. Later, she was a student at Colegio de La Inmaculada, a private Catholic high school in Quito, Ecuador. She later lived in Mexico, traveled to Europe and then to NY where she worked in the banking industry and met the love of her life, Arthur Kolgen while he was enlisted in the U.S Marine Corps.

Pilar and Arthur were proud parents of their only daughter, Maria Josefa Kolgen. They lived on Long Island, NY, Ecuador, and lastly, in Lititz, PA where they resided with their daughter. Pilar was a devout Catholic. Over the years, she and her husband enjoyed traveling and volunteered time at a local religious ministry. Pilar's love for her husband was unwavering as she was his true advocate and soulmate. She always kept busy as a teacher, a wonderful mother, homemaker and a freelance writer for a greeting card company. She also was known for her eloquent story telling recounting life experiences, very skilled at making religious handicrafts and enjoyed painting landscapes.

Pilar is predeceased by her beloved husband, Arthur who passed away in July of 2024 and her siblings, Raul, Marcel and Teresa. In addition to her only daughter, Maria, Pilar is survived by her sister Madeleine Chauvet, nephews, Eduardo Fernandez Salvador, Diego Fernandez Salvador, Andres Fernandez Salvador, Pierre Chauvet, Raul Chauvet and nieces, Maria Fernanda Fernandez Salvador, Madeleine Chauvet, Maria Chauvet, Adriana Chauvet, Martha Chauvet, Marcela Chauvet, Monica Chosserie, Liliane Chosserie, their children along with her beloved cats.

A joint memorial service for Pilar and Arthur with military honors will be held in the future to celebrate their lives at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA.
